YOUTH LEADERSHIP TEAM
WHAT DOES THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP TEAM COORDINATOR DO?
The Habitat Youth Leadership Team (YLT) is made up of 10-15 local highschool students from three public schools and one private school. Like HUVA, the YLT is passionate about increasing access to affordable housing through advocacy, fundraising, and volunteering. The YLT’s primary role is to serve as a youth liaison between Habitat and their youth advocates, and empower the youth leaders to promote Habitat’s mission. The YLT is intended to help educate each member about the importance of affordable housing and how Habitat is a part of a network of organizations supporting local families to find housing. The team is also valuable in building leadership, advocacy, and collaboration skills.

IMPACT
The YLT further connects HUVA and HFHGC to Charlottesville’s youth. This position helps shape the future of Habitat for Humanity advocates. The YLT also enables HUVA to have a broader impact in Charlottesville by facilitating advocacy within local high school communities.
