FUNDRAISING

WHAT DOES OUR FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE DO?

We work to maximize the fundraising potential of HUVA through events that are successful both financially and in promoting HFH’s mission, conveying to others where the money is going and why it matters.

IMPACT

Every donation counts and goes towards supporting the dreams of Charlottesville families seeking to become first-time homeowners amidst an affordable housing crisis and a global pandemic. 


In August 2020, 36 new families joined the HFHGC program, and they are now working on their homebuyer education and financial fitness classes so they will be able to buy a HFHGC home. 


These homes are sold at 0% interest through a 30-year mortgage. Without donations from the community, this simply would not be possible.

PREVIOUS AND FUTURE EVENTS

  • Give-a-Thon week: Hosted a variety of COVID-safe fundraising events during our first ever Give-a-Thon week, including a fundraising competition and partnering with Roots to host a fundraiser. This was held in the fall in place of our annual Rake-a-Thon, traditionally our largest fundraising event of the year. Last year’s Rake-a-Thon raised $46,000 and recruited over 500 people to rake leaves for our neighbors in the Charlottesville community.

  • Halloween Fundraiser: We sold Halloween candy as a festive, final fundraiser for the fall semester.
